Our planet orbits the sun, the source of all life. It gives warmth and light. Without it, our world would cease to exist. It is easy, then, to see why all living things gravitate towards the sun. Plants, literally, grow towards the light, their tender shoots or sturdy branches reaching inch by inch, closer to the glowing orb. We as humans also reach for the sun. We spend the cold, winter months, locked indoors, until the first promise of spring. As the temperatures rise, we see more and more people outdoors, soaking in every ray they can until the cold seasons drive us back in again.
In "Reaching for Summer" we sense this beautiful longing for warmth as the thin branches of the trees reach toward the rising sun.
