In comparison to much of his more modern metal art, this particular wall sculpture is a much more abstract experiment by Nicholas Yust. It is in some ways similar to it's companion, Regression, which also features twisted, inter-twined metal strips. The main difference is that metal strips of Gestation are more tightly wound and crumpled, giving it a thicker, more animated expression.
This piece is most appreciated by the more abstract decorators, often times in Night Clubs and Restaurants, although with it's thick, wide body it also makes a marvelous centerpiece over shelves or a fireplace mantel.
