Nicholas Yust creates his metal artwork through a careful process of selecting, cutting, grinding, polishing, painting, and finishing. Only the best quality, environmentally safe aluminum alloys are chosen. These metal panels can be ordered in virtually any size to meet the specifications of your custom order. Professional grade cutters are used to size the metal panels as needed for your sculpture, whether it be single or multi-panel. Nicholas then applies his signature grinding patterns and artistic designs to the metal. The panels are then polished and prepared for painting and finishing. (The pure metal sculptures are not painted.) The painting and finishing process is similar to that of an automobile. In fact, the protective coating used on Nicholas Yust’s metal artwork is the same finish used on Lexus automobiles. This process allows Nicholas Yust and ModernAbstractDecor.com to confidently guarantee the finish and metallic shine of your wall sculptures.

Artwork Details & Information

A majority of our wall hanging and floor standing sculptures are fabricated from 2024 and 6061 sheet, plate and tube aluminum and sheet and wrought stainless steel.  These aluminum alloys are environmentally friendly and applicable for both indoor and outdoor placement. Decorative grinding can range from heavy to light grinds depending on the sculpture. Thin transparent aluminum oxide (on aluminum) and chromium oxide (on stainless steel) layers form protective barriers which offer brilliant reflection and environmental resistance to corrosion.  

Sculptures with colored regions use a vibrant atomized acrylic paint which is under-laid with a protective primer base coat.  These coatings are also applicable for indoor and outdoor placement. Sculptures containing digital art prints are only for indoor applications due to the print being made from glossy front card stock.

Artwork Care & Maintenance

Metallic shine and acrylic coating are guaranteed.  All exposed metal and acrylic areas should be cleaned with conventional products such as 409.
